Post-harvest Technologies

Organic integrity continues after harvest. Cleaning, drying, grading, storage and transport procedures should preserve quality and prevent mixing or contamination.

Handling priorities

  • Plan harvest timing and handling equipment around the crop and intended grade.
  • Separate lots by field, date, status and quality where traceability is required.
  • Dry and store produce under suitable conditions; control moisture, pests, hygiene and condensation.
  • Use clean packaging and transport arrangements, and document any cleaning, processing or repacking.
Important: Local production, animal-health, certification and scheme requirements vary. Confirm details with the competent state authority or a qualified local adviser before spending or applying inputs.
